The Botany Wetlands is an important freshwater ecosystem in the Sydney area which provides a significant habitat for aquatic flora and fauna. Additionally, these Wetlands have value as an aesthetic backdrop to an urban landscape, provide a recreational, historical and flood mitigation resource, and provide the opportunity for scientific and educational use. The Wetlands are degraded due to urbanisation of the catchment and past management practices.
