Electrically conducting polymers, such as polypyrrole, are conveniently prepared by an electropolymerisation procedure in which the monomer is oxidised, polymerised and simultaneously deposited on the electrode surface. The polymer coating can be removed from the electrode and used in many different applications. The mechanical properties of electrochemically prepared polypyrrole is known to be dependent on the synthesis conditions.
