The advent of Speculative Realist and object-oriented philosophies has drawn attention to how objects are understood and experienced, and stimulated renewed interest in the aesthetics of these encounters. Taking photography as the site of such encounters, this dissertation asked what implications do these philosophies have for objects or entities that are complex structures or systems made by humans?
