Articulation of students from women's access courses in the technical and further education system with particular reference to the N.S.W. career education for women certificate

This study is concerned with mature age woiuen who are in the main seeking to re-enter the workforce after a period of absence. The study focuses on the women who are using a Womens' Access Course as an avenue into the technical education system. Their aims centre around improving their qualifications for a job. They may also be aiming at improving their ability to undertake further study or facilitating a change of career. Over the last twenty years it has become obvious that the nature of women's participation in the Australian workforce has been changing. Many women are abandoning the traditional pattern of remaining at home after marriage. Women are marrying earlier, having fewer children, and returning to the workforce. The increased divorce rate has also increased the numbers of families headed by women.
