Application of chemical techniques to the study of lens metabolites and proteins

This research work is composed of two projects: namely, chemical synthesis of 3-hydroxykynurenine glucoside, an important lens metabolite and; examining, with the aid of capillary electrophoresis and electrospray mass spectrometry, the serine loss of the C-terminal extensions of bovine α A and βB2 lens crystallins in order to determine whether any age related degradation occurs.
