Potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) have recently attracted considerable attention for electrochemical energy storage due to the abundant and widely distributed nature of potassium resources and their encouraging intercalation chemistry in graphite, the commercial anode in lithium-ion batteries. The main purpose of this thesis is to report the relevant outcomes of my research regarding advanced electrode and electrolyte materials for PIBs, from the aspect of materials engineering, as well as their electrolyte salt chemistry. Fundamental studies via monitoring the phase transformations of the working electrode materials are also emphasized in this thesis.
