A Computer-Based Message System (CBMS) Is a form of communication by using computers as mediators between users. It provides a non-interactive form of communication which has proved to be its major advantage. A CBMS also provides a convenient and efficient means of communication for users who are geographically separated. This thesis is intended to be a general study on CBMS's. References will be made to two such message systems, namely, "EAN" and "ACSNET". Emphasis will be placed on how the various aspects of a CBMS are designed and implemented in these two message systems.
