Creating an artificial intelligent membrane with bioinspired functions remains a challenge. Recently in Nature, Nair and coworkers reported an intelligent nanofluidic membrane with the memory effect and pH-regulated water permeability. Such a membrane shows a pH-dependent hysteresis and a pH-switched permeation with a few orders of magnitude, broadening the applications of nanofluidics ranging from membrane filtration to biomimicking process.
