Consensus on protective seam mining technology to solve the problems of coal and gas outburst has been reached. For upper protective seam mining, the effect of pressure relief and permeability in the lower protected layers is determined by the distance between the seams. If the distance is small, the effect of pressure relief and permeability on the lower protected seams is better, but there will be more relief gas flows to the working faces of the protective seam, and gas control of the working faces will be more difficult.
