Despite improving technology, better training and the use of modem monitoring and communication systems there is a disproportionate rate of diameter occurrences in the mining industry .The use of appropriate plans and a practical approach and managing risk can reduce the number of occurrences and ensure better control of emerging situations when they do occur.
