George Reid's anti-socialist campaign in the evolution of Australian liberalism

chapter
posted on 2024-11-16, 05:41 authored by Zachary Gorman
Since the fall of the 'Australian settlement' a large amount of political history has been written that focuses on the discontinuity between the interventionist and Keynesian Liberal Party of the Menzies era and the more neo-liberal modern Liberal Party. While this change in the economic policy of the party is an important historical trend, the historiographical emphasis on the difference between the Menzies and modern Liberal Parties has meant that the rhetorical and ideological continuity between the two has been ignored.
