Abstract
Affordable child care is an industrial issue which needs to be taken up more actively by the trade union movement, along with issues such as parental leave and protective legislation for pregnant and breastfeeding women workers. In this article, Carol O'Donnell discusses the issues and outlines the debates about how these oblectives could be best implemented.
