Abstract
“Australia’s most important resource is not minerals or wool — it is people — people must come before technology.” A simple but profound statement. It is profound because it affirms that a principle other than greed for profit or the commercial compulsions of the market should govern society; because it rejects the throwing of hundreds of thousands of people on industrial and social scrapheaps; because it could well become a battle-cry in every industry throughout the land.
