Abstract
No one has better credentials to make a critique of Solzhenitsyn and his book ‘The Gulag Archipelago' than Roy Medvedev. Himself a courageous dissident within the Soviet Union, Medvedev is an historian and author of the book ‘Let History Judge ’. It was following effort s to have this work on Stalin published in the Soviet Union that Medvedev was expelled from the Communist Party in 1969. Medvedev was expelled from the Communist Party in 1969. He has been without permanent employment since 1971.
