Private Thoughts

Abstract

The partial sale of the Comonwealth Bank and the airlines is now assured. The Chifley legacy has faded from view. But should privatisation be the key issue for the Left? And what is the best role for the public assets at stake? We assembled a round-table discussion to look beyond the privatisation battlelines. Peter Botsman is director of the Evatt Research Centre. Kerry Schott is an economist for Bankers Trust, and is a director of Australian Airlines. Tony Aspromourgos teaches economics at Sydney University. The discussion was chaired by David Burchell.
