Abstract
In the European left the talk is of ‘New Times’ — after industrialism, mass production and the mass market. Consumption and lifestyle, not production and work, have been the catchcries of the decade. Stuart Hall argues that it represents a revolution o f the subjective dimension against the iron-clad certainties of the old left.
