Abstract
Telecommunication systems provide organisations with opportunities for improved performance through reduced information overheads. However, the increased reliance on network services comes at a price. More complex networks require more sophisticated management and control. Like all computer systems, network management systems will need to incorporate greater "intelligence" in order to further automate their tasks.
