Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe and analyse oral classroom language use in order to identify opportunities for second language learning. The study poses the following questions: • What are typical patterns of classroom language use? • What opportunities does the use of the target language in classroom interaction provide for second language acquisition? • How can the analysis of classroom language use be exploited for the promotion of second language acquisition?
