Abstract
This paper highlights the situation of households in Cai Nuoc district who have become more vulnerable as a result of the agricultural shift to shrimp farming and consequent environmental changes and new economic pressures, and thus have turned to migrating elsewhere as a means of coping. Reflecting on these cases, the notion of migration as an adaptation strategy is discussed.
