Abstract
In this, my first editorial, as the editor of Nurse Researcher I would like to thank Leslie Gelling for his exceptional work over the past five years to grow the journal into the excellent publication that it is today. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with the RCN Publishing editorial team on plans to continue developing the journal in the coming years. Appointing an editor from Australia highlights the commitment to enhancing the journal's international profile. Certainly one of my key tasks will be to work with the editorial advisory board to showcase the journal to the wider international audience. More details of the specific developments planned for Nurse Researcher will be revealed in the coming months.
