Abstract
Liz Gunner, Dina Ligaga, and Dumisani Moyo edited Radio in Africa: Publics, Cultures, Communities, appearing in 2011 though the publication date is listed as 2012. As they say, the ‘importance of the medium of radio in Africa is its link to the oral and the aural in the history and cultural practices of the continent’ (p. 1) and there is a dynamic range of research on this medium. Besides its capability to produce new social meaning, the radio in Africa now has a long history back to the colonial period.
