Abstract

In Home Decor (After Margaret Preston) #10 2010, it might appear that Gordon Bennett is taking Margaret Preston exactly at her word. His painting replicates a drawing Preston published in the March 1925 issue of Art in Australia, where she first articulated her strategy to create a modern national art, illustrating it with her own examples that artists could copy in their own work.
