Abstract
The question of reception and the political requires us to think about therelationship between material, political, or state power on the onehand and, on the other, the interpretative devices and techniques thatmake certain meanings or modes of reading more readily availablethan others. How is political power related to the devices we have formaking the world intelligible? Through what rhetorical and materialstrategies and resources is the reception of texts, the construction ofmeanings, made possible within (by or against) political power?
