Abstract

Thermomechanical processing, ultrafine-grained steels, severe plastic deformation, bake hardening, TRIP steels. This overview focuses on the major steel research efforts in Australia and addresses applied and fundamental works. The examples are drawn from the following topics: (i) development of new low-Mn steels for pipeline and quench and tempered plate applications; (ii) design of extra-low carbon steel compositions and processing schedules for warm rolling; (iii) ultrafine grained steels;(iv) advanced high-strength steels for automotive applications.
