Abstract

This piece reflects on the duties and responsibilities of academics in a changing world. As professional academics, we need to reflect on our responsibilities beyond local disciplinary disputes, and in the process search for truths and solutions. More specifically, as an academic from the business faculty, I began to reflect on how major global events affected businesses and as a result affected society and communities, and how we as editors aid the production of knowledge at the micro settings when it comes to the impact of these events. First, I propose that the editorial role is a privilege and includes both duties and responsibilities to varied stakeholders. Second, I argue that interdisciplinary research and collaborations should be encouraged to include topical ¿glocal¿ issues and should include socially impactful research.
