Abstract
The politics of getting published, promoted, and tenured is serious stuff. The International Journal of Economics and Accounting will help scholars in this struggle. It is important however not to waste space here with platitudes and clichés. We will use the opportunity to deliver a few cautions, lessons, and 'Unpleasant Truths' (but in true North American style, there will be a Happy Ending -- for some.) The paper interweaves its arguments about the present with quotations from a classic 'blast from the past’ ((1908 to be exact): F.M. Cornford's MICROCOSMOGRAPHIA ACADEMICA: BEING A GUIDE FOR THE YOUNG ACADEMIC POLITICIAN. This work is a sober reminder that there is nothing new under the Sun.
