Aims & Scope

Animal Studies Journal ASJ publishes inquiring and critical academic work by both new and established scholars whose work focuses on (non-human) animals and is informed by, and builds on, the field of animal studies. The journal aims to be a leading international forum for the dissemination and discussion of animal studies research and creative work. ASJ aims to support and promote scholarship and scholarly exchange within animal studies, with a view to the advancement of positive human-animal relations. ASJ has a commitment to fostering a community of animal studies scholars, scientists, creative artists and animal advocates. Material for the journal comes from a wide range of perspectives, across the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of this field. ASJ does not charge any fees for submission of material or processing in order to complete the publication process.
