Abstract
In November 2001 Journalism educators at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) facilitated a day long workshop on media skills for members of the United Muslim Women Association (UMWA) in Sydney. UMWA organisers had approached UTS as they felt that young Muslim women lacked the skills and confidence to adequately respond to intense media scrutiny.
