Abstract
The numerous cases which I saw in my clinic made me decide to devote a good part of my life to the task of unmasking the double face of the society in which we live, a society which preaches virtue and morality an practices something very different in secret. (The Hidden Face of Eve, page 16) This quote explains a great deal about why Nawal el Sa'adawi's books are so compelling, disturbing and yet ultimately hopeful.
