Queensland Politics
Abstract
The analysis produced by the broad left and the CPA in Queensland presents that state as being in the forefront of a vast, national ruling class offensive. We regard Queensland as a testing ground for antidemocratic assaults to which the rest of the Australian bourgeoisie often looks for guidance. This view of Queensland as a pacesetter in a national campaign of reaction directly counterposes itself to the old notion that Queensland is a stagnant backwater, dragging its feet behind the rest of Australia. Such a naive assessment was accompanied by the idea that Queenslanders were somehow innately different from other Australians.
