Women and Labour Conference

Abstract

The Women and Labour History Conference was held at Sydney’s Macquarie University in May 1978. More than 60 papers were presented on the themes — The Experience of Work; Australian Feminism; The Politics of Sexuality; Popular Culture; Religion and Methodology. Here, seven of the 2,000 participants discuss their impressions of the conference. The group includes communist party and non-communist party women. They are: Rosemary Pringle, Lesley Lynch, Sue Wills (non-communist party) and Eva Bacon, Pat Ranald, Carmel Shute, Joyce Stevens (CPA).
