Abstract

There seems to be some confusion amongst marxists in Australia as to how to regard the emergence in the late ’sixties and early ’seventies of a substantial group of disillusioned young people, intent on exploring non-materialist life styles. Reactions to the counter-culture have ranged from uncritical enthusiasm to outright contempt.
